How do you know which zone you are in with your eyes closed?
If you are in the blue zone for 5 seconds in a row, you get reward sounds for as long as you stay there. It is important that you pick a reward sound that pleases you a great deal. In GoDeeper settings you can choose birds chirping, a cat purring, lapping waves, or even silence as a reward sound.
If you are in the red zone for more than a minute, you get a reminder sound so you can wake up and recenter on your practice. This is also critical to quicker learning. The more time you spend meditating, instead of mind wondering, the faster you will get to deep meditations. Pick a gentle and pleasing reminder sound because meditation is also about cultivating compassion for yourself – no matter what state you are in.
By default, the level of background sound is set to be the highest when in the red zone and lowest in the blue zone.
Go to Audio Settings to:
- Shorten or lengthen the time it takes for you to get a reward or reminder. Experts might want to lengthen the time to get a reward and shorten the time to get a reminder.
- Change the background sound to any of five different background sounds – including silence. With a silent background, you also have the option to play any guided meditation from Calm, Headspace, Insight Timer, 10% Happier, etc. You will hear the reward and reminder sounds over the guided meditation. You can also listen to inspiring kirtan, chanting, or new age music playing on Pandora, Spotify, iTunes, or whatever music layer you have on your phone. When you get stuck in a thinking mode, music can help you get unstuck. You can try different tracks to find out which songs give you the most reward sounds.
